We’ve officially completed the first week of the new year. For many organizations(and people), the new year represents an opportunity to set goals for things we want and need to accomplish or perhaps a chance to recommit to missed opportunities that went uncompleted in the previous year. If you have not started yet, don’t worry, you have 51 more weeks to get it moving. It might surprise you to know that waiting an additional week or two for organizations to get started on their strategic planning process can wreak havoc on business. The people in our business depend on us as well as the people and industries you serve. You have to remove the “beer goggles” that may have impaired your vision and create a plan that will clearly lead your team in 2020. So, how do you get started with making a plan? The simplest way to get started is by taking a look within your organization. What does your organizational culture say about your business? Does it align with the vision, mission and values of the business? What do the employees have to say about the business? Are they willing to be brand ambassadors or are they intentionally sinking the ship? How successful has the business been at achieving the organizational goals or are they just skating by year after year? All of these questions (and many more) can be answered by taking a look within the organization.Admittedly, this will place the leader of the business in a very vulnerable state. This undoubtedly means that while you can anticipate hearing what you are doing well as a business, you will also hear what is not working or failing in the business. The good news about gathering this information is that it gives you an opportunity to make necessary changes to propel your organization forward. This can be the game changer that will ultimately save your business. While it may seem like a relatively easy task to accomplish, it can be tricky depending upon your current organizational climate and the willingness of the employees to share with leaders the good, bad and ugly. Our trained consultants are experts in understanding and creating plans that reinvent organizations. We use various organizational assessments to identify, diagnosis and remedy opportunities within the business. Are you ready to see clearly in 2020?
