It’s hard to believe that we are already one month into the new year. As leaders of people, we have created and established goals that we believe will move us forward to the next level; unfortunately, we have done little to engage our employees. Does their vision of the business and next steps align with your vision? How does your employees’ vision impact your bottom line? Many people leaders miss out on these important questions that ultimately play a huge part in seeing your vision reach new levels or just becoming another unchecked box on a list of what you wanted to accomplish. So, how do you reconnect with your employees? How do you make the most of your one on one check-ins and team meetings?
One of the best ways to re-engage with your employees is to simply communicate with your staff. Your communication does not have to be a formal meeting, it can be a simple conversation between you and your team or an individual. This is a perfect time to communicate the vision for your department (and the organization). This will also create a dialogue between you and your employees that will help you address any concerns. Another opportunity is to connect with your employees emotionally. Emotionally savvy leaders have a way to get more out of their employees because they are able to connect with their employees on a deeper level. These managers lead with poise and tact while meeting the needs of their employees. In turn, these employees are more committed to their leader and the success of the organization. Lastly, as a leader, hold yourself accountable – do what you say. The action of “doing what you say” can be a game changer when trying to engage or reconnect with your staff. It will be a key differentiator in being known as a boss or a leader.
The task of connecting may be easy for some and daunting for others. Our associates are experienced at creating actionable plans that will help you to effectively connect or re-engage with your team. Are you ready to connect?
